Scrapbooking incorporates specific events, along with ongoing activities, to design themes.
A Specific theme means there is a limited scope and number of scrapbook pages. A themed scrapbook could be about – family, vacations, wedding, military, scouts, school or holidays. The theme is carried out through the entire scrapbooking album with the colors and layout idea.
An ongoing – theme scrapbook records events that continue over a period of time. These require removal and addition of scrapbooking pages. Life albums, hobby albums, and child development are all ongoing themes.
Before you start you will need to choose a theme. Make sure that you have all of your scrap book supplies together. It is a good idea to sort your scrapbook pictures weather it is in chronological order or themes. Arrange any memorabilia to be used. You can put all of your photographs in large Ziploc bags along with any stickers or die cuts or paper that you will be using. I like to use a photo storage box to organize my photos, which is very helpful because of the many dividers that separate the pictures according to theme, events or time. At Scrapbooking Supplies R Us we have photo storage boxes (you can also store any extra photos that you do not want to put into your scrap booking album). You can also buy an accordion type file (large or small) and organize your scrapbook photos in there, I find the large files to be very useful because I can put large single sheets of paper in each slot along with my pictures.
After you get all of your photos organized you might want to go through and crop your pictures. I know this sounds like a big task and it might take you a while but when you sit down to put your scrapbooking album together the biggest part of your job will be done. All that will be left to do is to put your pictures on the pages along with whatever embellishments that you will be using.
With the large variety of scrapbook supplies that you have to choose from putting a themed scrapbook together can be lots of fun. Themed scrapbooks are pretty easy and lots of fun to look at. They show you how children have grown and changed and even how fashions and styles have changed over the years.
